The DVORCE project began as a sensitive refresh of guest rooms and apartments in a family-run guesthouse in South Bohemia. The brief focused on small interventions and a very gentle facelift — with the aim of creating spaces that feel calmer, more comfortable, and more welcoming, elevating the overall quality without losing the character of the place.
The colour palette and material choices were guided by what already existed within the guesthouse. Rather than introducing a new layer, the design built on the existing ones, allowing the transition to feel natural and seamless. The process focused on thoughtful unification, simplification, and refinement of details to improve both the atmosphere and functionality of the interiors.
Beyond the rooms and apartments, the scope extended to shared spaces — corridors, welcoming nooks, small libraries, a children’s corner, and the outdoor terrace. The goal was to create a cohesive experience throughout the guesthouse, guided by a consistent, calm spatial language.
This project demonstrates that even a subtle refresh — when rooted in the character of the place — can significantly enhance the quality of space and the overall guest experience.
